It’s Origins
I am fairly certain that if there were sound recording devices available long before our modern times, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out of some possible early existence.
Fortunately however, we can trace the origins of phantom words discovery to the early 1900s.
It wasn’t until the late 1900s that Professor Diana Deutsch started experimenting with some phantom words of her own.
Dianna Deutsch is a lead in the field of Auditory Illusions.
Having specialized knowledge in speech, psychology and music made it possible for her to give us an explanation behind the nature of phantom words.

What are Phantom Words?
Phantom words are the result of imagined words and phrases that are present in speech sounds that we hear.
So when the sounds of speech are heard in an unclear way, phantom words mysteriously creep into our perception.
According to Diana Deutsch, when parts of speech are separated into left and right stereo channels and are constantly repeated to a listener, phantom words can be formed.
It’s like the brain consistently tries to find understanding in what it believes to be meaningful speech whenever it is forced to listen to ambiguous speech sounds on repeat.
I don’t know about you but that can have you tripping!
It’s really cool and fascinating that this sort of thing can even happen!
